From the supplier: The University of California at San Diego (UCSD) is among the first schools to use McGraw-Hill Inc's Primis custom electronic publishing system for textbook production. McGraw-Hill licenses the software to the college bookstore and campus printing facility that uses printing software and hardware co-developed by McGraw-Hill with Eastman Kodak Company. Custom textbook production allows college professors to augment recently published material with their own notes or with recently published articles and can make decisions on course content two or three weeks in advance instead of five months. Instructors will be able to order the electronic published textbooks in the numbers they require and additional copies can be delivered in 24 to 48 hours. The textbooks are more up to date and material costs are likely to decrease. Professors will even be able to combine chapters from several different books into one textbook, decreasing the number of required texts for courses.
