From the supplier: Property and casualty reinsurance companies are concerned with the predicted growth of air freight traffic, the ageing of freight transport fleets and the theft and pilferage of freight cargo. Reinsurers anticipate aviation hull market losses to double every 10 years. Hull insurers suffered one of their worst years in 1991, when there were 51 major aircraft claims, including 23 total losses. Demand for international air freight is expected to triple during the next 20 years and air freight companies often purchase antiquated accident-prone passenger airplanes to carry surplus shipments.
