From the supplier: In an effort to improve the quality of the training of student teachers at distant locations, a pilot project undertaken at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro established an interactive videoconferencing system. In selecting the hardware for the task, the main considerations were that it offer two-way, full-motion audio and video, VCR capability, data transfer capability via facsimile or modem, and minimal operation and installation requirements. The Multimedia Information Network Exchange (MINX) system from Datapoint Corp was selected. The MINX system involves a workstation and built-in camera, microphone and monitor. It offers flexibility in carrying out data transmission functions, working with digital or analog technologies. It was set up at the university and at a pilot location with the result that the relationship between the supervisor and the student teacher was improved.
