From the supplier: Insurance regulators and other representatives discussed the eventual need for regulatory parity between North American and European Community insurance industries, at the 1994 Bureau International de Producteurs Assurance et Reassurance (BIPAR) meeting. However, several speakers said that regulation either need not or should not be identical, as local consumers and economies will continue to differ. A BIPAR directive urging the issue of solvency standards, home-country supervision, and a single license for insurers, will go into effect July 1, 1994.
