From the supplier: Enterprise computing, which takes an integrated approach to the establishment of campus networks, is the clear trend of the future in planning for information systems. Enterprise networks may involve local- or wide-area networks, but they are characterized by a number of factors. These include strategic concern for total organizational communication requirements, adoption of a distributed network architecture, communications capability, informational integrity, standardization, and the presence of an integrated network management system. Enhancements to the network may involve the adoption of a common user interface, expanding bandwidth to the level where it can handle multimedia and transparent interaction. The keys to enhancing the enterprise network are the utilization of file servers for mass storage, communication servers and electronic mail systems.
