From the supplier: Emerging technologies promise to fundamentally change the present understanding of education through such innovations as virtual reality (VR). Already CD-ROMs, videodiscs, online databases and satellite links are making an impact on school classrooms, and in the near future these will become a much more integral part of the teaching process. As well as these information sources, various forms of computer graphics software will become standard school equipment. Students will use these applications, such as computer-aided design, multimedia, and desktop publishing programs, as their basic tools. Further into the future is VR. Autodesk Inc is developing an environment named cyberspace that will be wholly created by computer. With special input and output devices, such as headphones, eyewear and a movement detection device, students can experience artificial environments. For example, architecture students at one institution have the opportunity to tour a virtual representation of their own designs.
