From the supplier: The enormous losses experienced by catastrophic excess of loss (LMX) insurance syndicates from 1987 to 1990 wreaked financial disaster for many of the Lloyd's of London's external and internal names who had heavily invested in them. Names had been lured by expectations of quick and large profits and a casualty-free environment to invest heavily in the now defunct Gooda Walker and Feltrim syndicates. Failure to properly investigate the syndicates or the LMX system pitfalls involved the names in liability for substantial damage claims from catastrophes of the late 1980s.
