From the supplier: A pilot project funded by Georgia Pacific Corp utilizes High Performance Systems Inc's STELLA II simulation and modelling software to teach the systems approach in three middle schools in Georgia's Glynn County School System. The intent of the Partners in Education project is to develop a curricular approach that emphasizes the modelling and simulation of relationships between physical, business, social and biological systems. Students at the three schools use the STELLA II program, running on Apple Macintosh LC II microcomputers, to create models and learn about interaction and systems theory. A typical project involves creating a model of an island's ecosystem, then balancing the various needs of fishing, paper milling and tourism industries. In this way, students learn about the relationship between economic and environmental realities in a real world context.
