From the supplier: The contribution of athletics to the academic thrust of colleges and universities is examined by testing the whether academic institutions with high football or basketball team successes turn out lower graduation rates or not. Regression results show that a university's academic thrust is enhanced by a successful football or basketball team in terms of advertising effects. However, football success may result in students failing to graduate. This is contrary to results which show that no correlation between basketball success and graduation rate exists.
