From the supplier: Pre-employment honesty testing is one way to determine the personal history and attitudes of potential employees. Honesty tests are best for small businesses where increased theft and drug abuse adversely affects growth. Reliability and validity are the main requirements for honesty tests. Reliability involves the capacity of the test to provide consistent test scores for the same person because the instability of scores could lead to unreliable hiring decisions. Tests are considerd valid if these can evaluate employee dishonesty such as theft, drug abuse and disregard for company policies. However, employers may also face tort liabilities for conducting honesty tests. The most common tort liabilities are invasion of privacy and the negligent maintenance of employee records. Thus, employers must ensure that information obtained from testing remains confidential.
