From the supplier: A study on the extent of changes in strategies implemented by firms in response to a changing environment was conducted. A model was used to investigate the elements of strategic change in the less-than-truckload (LTL) US motor carrier industry to test the theory that the probability of change is a result of prior strategy, past performance, firm resources and management ability and experience. Results show that for LTL motor carrier companies, the most critical factor in making strategic changes are frim size, strategy pursued in a regulated environment and change in outside stock ownership during the transition to regulation.
