From the supplier: Data transmission should be integrated into the alarm security since alarm systems transmit alarm signals along communication lines. Alarm systems used to protect assets include several kinds of data communications lines, such as sensor to data-gathering panel and between alarm system computers to computer peripherals. Thus, several provisions for retransmission in case of an error are also needed. Automatic data line tests should be conducted at least hourly to ensure that natural failures or degradation are not blocking alarm communications.
