From the supplier: The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is using WorldLink Telecommunications Inc's VIS-A-VIS software to offer courses to students and businesses via video teleconferencing. Classes conducted on-campus are transmitted to multiple off-campus locations simultaneously, linking students from less populated areas where classes are limited. Students are given high-quality visual aids, including computer graphics and images from still-cameras and scanners. A major benefit for teachers is the elimination of having to travel to different locations to deliver night courses. Businesses, such as McDonnell Douglas Corp, are also utilizing VIS-A-VIS's flexibility and cost-effectiveness to train employees. The university's agriculture department is using VIS-A-VIS to help farmers in the community by using the system to send photographs to an on-campus expert who can diagnose crop problems.
