From the author: In the mature phase, urban tourism on small Caribbean islands is characterized by decreasing levels of tourist activity beyond a specialized commercial zone adjacent to cruise-ship docks. Exceptions include isolated attractions and accommodations beyond a specialized tourist zone and beach-focused resort strips adjacent to the city. The model depicts five zones: specialized tourist zone, the central business district, local neighborhoods, the resort strip, and the rural periphery.
