From the supplier: Students taking the 15 drafting courses in the Technical Division of Dalton College, Dalton, GA, are using Autodesk Inc's Generic CADD to learn specific computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting (CADD) techniques. Generic CADD, a two-dimensional (2D) design and drafting program, is an alternative to Autodesk's AutoCAD, a more expensive and powerful 3D program also used at the college. Generic CADD costs one-tenth as much as AutoCAD and is easier to use, so some students purchase Generic CADD after completing their courses and use it at work. Generic CADD 6.1 can access AutoCAD files and has an interface similar to AutoCAD, so graphics files can be created and modified in Generic CADD, then sent to AutoCAD for refinement and printing. Classes using Generic CADD include descriptive geometry, engineering drafting, and architectural and machine design.
