From the supplier: The Assn for California Tort Reform has dropped plans to place a voter initiative to limit lawyer contingency on the Nov 1994 California ballot. A threat by the California Trial Lawyers Assn to run a television commercial that focused on a $57 million punitive damage award against Farmers Insurance Group forced the insurer to withdraw support for the initiative. Initiative sponsors, without industrial support, will seek legislative action to limit attorney fees in personal injury cases to a graduated percent related to the amount of the award.
