From the supplier: California Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi has ordered insurers in the state to provide mono-line residential earthquake insurance as part of the state's FAIR Plan by Jan. 1, 1995. Insurers may challenge the order, which could put some smaller commercial insurers out of business. They say the FAIR Plan does not authorize an earthquake-only policy, and the timetable is impractical. The policy would have a 10% to 15% deductible, and cover replacement of homes worth up to $400,000.
