From the supplier: Business ethics presents managers with the difficult problem of balancing their moral obligations to company stakeholders with financial performance goals. The general public believes that ethics is hardly taken into consideration by managers when making decisions. A survey of graduate students in business administration should reveal whether or not this is the case, as well as have implications for the moral and ethical perspectives of the coming generation of business executives. Data from 86 students who accomplished a questionnaire involving 16 ethical dilemmas, as well as queries about acceptable behavior and awareness of ethics policies, reveal that while female students were less tolerant of questionable business practices than male students, the theory that business graduates ignore ethical considerations in decision-making was not supported. However, many of those employed were unaware of a written ethics policy in their firms.
