The presence of 24-hr on-site ATMs in bank branches means that many transactions are likely to take place at night, necessitating special security precautions for customers who frequent ATM facilities at such hours. The best way to provide a measure of protection to such users would be to ensure that there is adequate security lighting at ATM sites and that security personnel are present to monitor suspicious activities. Guidelines for security lighting are also provided.
