From the supplier: Koa is a type of wood which can only be found in the Hawaiian Islands. It is quite attractive and is widely known for its high resonance characteristics, which make it an ideal material for wooden musical instruments. Its heartwood has a reddish to dark brownish color and features regular black lines marking the growth rings. Koa also has a natural luster and beautiful finish and yields various interesting figures. It is durable, highly resistant to insects and fungi and can be dried easily.
