From the supplier: Instructional courseware does not address lesson planning as clearly and respectively as grammar and composition textbooks do, and the teacher's role changes from that of a lecturer to that of a facilitator. Effective use of courseware is a matter of organization; aspects to consider when selecting courseware include whether it is comprised mainly of drills, whether it involves students in planning and problem solving, and whether students are given different roles (as opposed to being grouped simply to help each other understand the material). Interactive courseware being used by more than one class requires that notes the students refer to continually be placed in their notebooks rather than entered onscreen. Teachers must also determine whether the program contains all the data required to complete projects or whether students must refer to other data sources, and whether teachers can handle the confusion caused by several students working at different levels simultaneously.
