From the supplier: A study was conducted to investigate the nesting behavior of female Common Mergansers located in northeastern Ontario, Canada. Nest boxes of the Common Mergansers were parasitized by other species and vice versa. Most of the eggs were laid during the afternoon and were monitored by the females for six to eight hours after laying. The females incubated their young continuously during the night and turned the eggs at the same rate as of Mallards. Species which have larger size were also observed to be more attentive than other species.
