From the supplier: Ferrante Imperato assembled a vast collection of natural history objects that his pharmacy in Naples, Italy, became famous throughout Europe. This consisted of an herbarium, shells, birds, sea creatures, fossils, clays, metallic ores, marble and gem species. His 1599 book, 'Historia Naturale,' chronicled his experiments and his studies on geology and paleontology. Besides his extensive travels for collecting plants and minerals, Imperato corresponded with his contemporary naturalists.
