From the supplier: A well-conducted interview is essential to an electric utility's success in selecting a new general manager. Before interviewing candidates, board members should agree on the kind of manager they want and should only entertain those candidates who possess the desired qualities and qualifications. They should also make sure that the interview is carried out in a place that is comfortable and provides privacy. During the interview, board members should try to gauge how much effort the candidates had spent in getting to know the company. In addition, they should study the body language of the candidates to gain new insights about them. Finally, interviewers should refrain from imposing their personalities or will on the interview process, and should concentrate on starting a fruitful exchange of ideas.
