IBM Launches POWER5 pSeries Servers, Leverages New Capabilities to Support Unix and Linux Workloads

This IDC Insight analyzes IBM's introduction of POWER5 pSeries servers for both enterprise and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. The introduction of POWER5-based models in February 2005 and in October 2004 and November 2004 — following the 1H04 introduction of iSeries models based on POWER5 — completes IBM's refresh cycle for its iSeries and pSeries lines of scalable RISC-based servers.
