From the supplier: The media has the freedom and legal right to name victims of rape and other sexual offenses. However, legal authorities believe that this privilege is based on the assumption that journalists will at times choose not to name victims and will exercise prudence and sound judgment whenever they plan to reveal their identity. Rather than blindly leaping into decisions regarding this issue, journalists should develop ethical standards which will help them balance their commitment to free speech with the need to protect victims' dignity and privacy.
