From the supplier: Defined contribution plans are becoming popular among public employees, who perceive the plans as attractive supplements to their existing defined benefit plans. Compared to defined benefit plans in which contributions are adjusted, defined contribution plans are attractive because there are specific limitations on the contributions that have to be made. Moreover, they provide employees with a simple, portable and highly-controllable means of generating postemployment income.
