From the supplier: Warren Buffett's $2.3 billion offer for GEICO created a surge of new interest in insurance stock buying on the market, helping to boost insurance stock prices for Aug 1995. The 53 property and casualty stocks that were tracked showed a 7% increase for the group during the month. Forty-five of the stocks advanced, with 20th Century in the lead and 15 gaining by double-digits, while only 6 fell.
