From the supplier: The 28,000-member Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Assn. (WH) in the Twin Cities, MN, is about to introduce an employee bonus plan in an effort to boost organizational performance. The board of directors and management hope that this initiative, to be instituted late 1995, will help the utility ward off competition entering the utility sector. Moreover, they expect the bonus plan to attract talented people and retain current employees who are making remarkable contributions to the cooperative and who might be considering job offers elsewhere. Developed by a committee of board members and management staff, the bonus system will reward employees who show improved performance with an amount equivalent to 5% of the total base salary. As a result of the plan, employees have become more goal-oriented and outcome-oriented in their thinking.
