From the supplier: The Slinger School District is optimizing its library media program through automation, despite a tight budget. The district participated in a grant that funded conversion of library records to machine-readable format. The records were updated in preparation of approval of an automation system. The district eventually deployed Ameritech Library Services' Scholar system, which they found easy to use and quite flexible. Users can execute all library functions from any location on the network. The union catalog feature permits all schools to share resources, which avoids the necessity of purchasing duplicates in some cases. Because the system is able to optimize the budget, the system proves to be affordable. The automation allows the library staff to spend more time with patrons, and less time doing clerical tasks.
