From the supplier: An ethnographic study was conducted in Feb. 1992 on the relevance of intercollegiate sports to African American women athletes. Data were gathered from a predominantly white university in an urban area. Twenty percent of the 31,000 undergraduates were African Americans and 30% of the 100 female athletes were African Americans. Some changes in the system of intercollegiate sport are presented which were based on the cultural needs of African American female athletes indicated in the study.
