From the supplier: The dearth of homeowners insurance coverage in the Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas region was the subject of a public hearing held by Texas Insurance Commissioner Elton Bomer. The homeowners insurance market has seen a drastic cut in available coverage due to the decisions of Farmers Insurance Group State Farm to restrict the issuance of new insurance in some zip codes in order to reduce their exposure to hailstorm losses. Consumers Union attorney Rob Schneider told those attending the meeting that the two insurers have a duty to the community to keep providing new coverage.
