The velodrome is made from a marine-grade, waffle-weave textured, skid-resistant plywood called SkidGuard which gives good traction. The velodrome's support structure is composed of 70 tons of steel, and is about the size of a football stadium. Track shape is built into the the steel and the plywood is screwed onto the track.
