From the supplier: The New York Banking Association (NYBA) is proposing an amendment to a bill that would grant state banks the same power as national banks to sell insurance in towns of 5,000 people or less. Under the amendment, insurance-parity between state and national banks would be retained on the condition that trust companies in New York state would be granted the right to sell insurance on the same basis as banks. The NYBA is opposed to certain amendments included by insurance groups within the current bill which would restrict the insurance-selling rights of financial institutions.
