From the supplier: Selecting a well-designed Library Automation System (LAS) can be difficult, but users can choose from a wide variety of products. Winnebago Software's Union CAT district-level catalog software controls information on thousands of materials at every school in a district, regardless of automation capabilities. The system allows users to make materials available to staff and students throughout a district, extending resources and budgets. COMPanion's Alexandria 4.0 LAS is designed for Power Macs and performs cataloging, calculation, patron management, inventory, routing, purchasing, fines and reporting functions. The LAS features a proprietary transaction-based architecture, a Virtual Union Catalog, Windows-based client support and the ability to manage multiple queries simultaneously. SIRS' Mandarin LAS can store more than one million MARC records. The product can export, edit and import MARC records as well as manage reserves, loans, recalls and holds. Several other products are presented.
