From the supplier: The workers' compensation insurance bill sponsored by Gov. George E. Pataki, and passed by the state legislature will save employers more than $1 billion when new insurance rates take effect Oct. 1, 1996. The usual July 15 annual rate announcement has been postponed because New York Insurance Superintendent Edward J. Muhl expects to announce lower rates as a result of the bill's passage. The New York Employment Safety and Security Act of 1996 calls for anti-fraud measures, greater workplace safety and restrictions on employee countersuits.
