From the supplier: The US Judicial Conference will vote in 1996 on requiring all federal courts to impanel a 12-member jury in civil trials and requiring unanimous verdicts. Advocates cite evidence that 12-member juries are less likely to be influenced by individual jury members, are likely to be more diverse and can better recall evidence. Those opposed to returning to 12-member juries noted additional costs and the cumbersome nature of larger juries. This revision to Rule 48 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure is not expected to be adopted.
