From the supplier: Rural township and village enterprises (TVE) have helped boost China's economy for 17 years. TVEs reportedly contributed 2/3 of the total value of rural social products and 1/3 of the total value of national industrial production in 1993. The success of TVEs is mainly attributed to the efforts of Chinese peasant entrepreneurs. However, TVEs still face several problems, such as lack of infrastructure, political instability, hostile government policies and lack of will for self-improvement among peasant entrepreneurs.
