From the supplier: United Auto Workers (UAW) and Canadian Auto Workers reached very different agreements with General Motors, Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Corp. The Canadian union succeeded in getting the Big Three's subsidiaries to agree to restrict outsourcing and to add new jobs. In contrast, while UAW secured a promise from the automakers to maintain near-current employment levels, it also agreed to a two-tiered wage structure that will actually push new employees compensation below union standards.
