From the supplier: Chris Gregory's protestations against hierarchical opposition are explained as a protest against 'elitist' theories of the Indian caste system. However, in trying to reveal the logical structure of hierarchical opposition, it was shown that its underlying graph theoretic model is a twin binary tree where the two 'son' nodes of each 'father' node have the same pair of contrastive labels, namely, pure and impure in the Indian caste system. This evidences that hierarchical opposition is a significant feature of Austronesian thought.
