From the supplier: Mattel Inc. is recalling its Cabbage Patch Kids Snacktime Kids Dolls, which have been cited for chewing fingers and hair, primarily of children, in 100 alleged incidents since their introduction to the market in the fall of 1996. Mattel's voluntary recall, which began January 6, 1997, includes a $40 refund for each doll returned, a gesture potentially designed to ward off impending lawsuits. One lawsuit has been filed against Mattel, for $25 million, on behalf of a nine-year-old girl whose hair was reportedly chewed to the scalp by the Snacktime Doll.
