From the supplier: The American Hospital Assn (AHA) is lobbying Congress to allow provider sponsored organizations (PSO) to treat Medicare patients. The AHA is supporting S. 146, a Senate bill co-sponsored by Sen Bill Frist and Sen Jay Rockefeller. The American Medical Assn supports the AHA's legislation, but would like to see modifications to allow physicians to form networks. Blue Cross and Blue Shield Assn warned of risks in unlicensed PSO plans and feels that PSOs should be subject to all state consumer protection laws.
