From the supplier: Mario Vargas Llosa's novels, 'The Storyteller' and 'Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter,' are good examples of his separation of reality and fiction in that the main character is clearly a limited version of himself. Vargas Llosa distances himself from autobiography in his commentaries and yet is clearly reflected in his works. He wants to be rooted in reality but he believes that reality should be warped by the author's own obsessions or beliefs. Therefore, Vargas Llosa believes the version of himself in his work is a distorted one.
