From the supplier: Sen. John Chafee says that he is willing to negotiate with Senate Democrats and EPA Administrator Carol Browner over the provisions of his proposed Superfund reform legislation. Chafee's proposed bill would eliminate joint-and-several liability and provide many companies with liability exemption if they complied with all laws that were in place at the time that they disposed of their hazardous waste. Browner has claimed that the bill fails to protect human health and the environment.
