Domenici and Paul Wellstone, sponsors of legislation, passed in 1996, that requires parity between mental health insurance coverage and coverage provided for serious physical ailments, have released a report indicating that the bill does not make mental health care unaffordable. The report concludes that parity, when combined with managed care, results in lower premiums and costs.
