From the supplier: Michigan insurance agents have until Sep 2, 1997, to complete their continuing education courses for license review dates of Jan 1, 1997 and Jun 1, 1997. Michigan Insurance Commissioner D. Joseph Olson told insurance agents they did not have to complete continuing education courses to retain their licenses in Dec 1996 because the courses did not appear to benefit agents and cost $16 million per year. The Michigan Assn of Life Underwriters filed a lawsuit to reinstate the education requirement and won.
