From the supplier: Business leaders and organizations that do no know how to respond to Pres. Bill Clinton's call for the private sector to participate in community development and nation-building can look to the Academy of Finance (AOF) for guidance. The Academy was formed in the 1970s as a joint project of the New York City Board of Education, Shearson Loeb Rhoades and the American Federation of Teachers intended to train high school students for careers in the financial services industry. The AOF offers a wide variety of courses in financial services, ranging from economic theory to exposure to real-world financial environments such as stock exchanges and trading desks. The AOF concept has been successfully adopted by the tourist industry, using it as a model for its own Academy of Travel & Tourism. Other industries interested in developing school-to-career programs can also use the principles of AOF. These principles are discussed.
