From the supplier: The economic performance of the property-liability insurance industry is studied. Results show that the concentration ratio for the line and the share of direct writers in the line determine pricing performance. Higher concentration eases pricing rivalry while the positive coefficient for the direct/agency ratio reflects the competition effect caused by the competition between groups of direct writers and American agency insurance underwriters.
