From the supplier: Colleges are eliminating men's team sports in order to comply with federal regulations that require equal opportunity for female collegiate athletes. Neither interest nor student population can be considered by college athletic departments complying with Title IX requirements. Financial proportionality is the central issue in a complex system of compliance. Schools that support large football teams have the burden of providing athletic programs that support an equal number of women.
