From the supplier: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14000 series of standards identifies and discusses the basic components of an effective environmental management system (EMS). This system consists of steps that can help managers spot and address environmental issues. These steps include problem assessment, goal-setting, progress evaluation, employee training, performance audits, and employee rewards or discipline, and third-party reviews. A single uniform set of environmental standards accepted internationally offers a number of advantages. It can help promote organizational efforts to pursue environmental excellence; eliminate unnecessary registrations, inspections, certifications and conflicting requirements; and ward off regulatory 'command and control' initiatives. The elements and implementation of ISO 14000 are discussed.
